I realize there’s a lot of hatred from enthusiasts for crossovers, but I’d like to hear some opinions about the Venue. This wouldn’t be for me, but rather my non-car-guy husband.
Lately, it seems like he’s getting a bit bored with his Elantra. It got to the point that he wanted to go look at cars right when the lockdown happened. I know there will shortly be a lot of good incentives on cars soon and I keep seeing these little buggers around in this green color and I just get the feeling he’d really like it. They’re pretty darn cheap and being based on the Accent it’s got to be pretty efficient. He’s not really concerned about power, so I doubt that would be a deal breaker.
Anyone driven one lately? I think he might like the Kona too, but I think the Venue is more up his alley.

Just bought a Kona in Feb with my fiancé. Kona felt more solid than the venue and they area out the same size. I think the Kona also has a bigger engine 2.0 vs 1.6 ( but neither is very quick). The Kona also has awd which you cant get on the venue.

I’ve been kind of considering one myself actually, though it's near the bottom of my list and I haven't driven one yet, so I'd be interested in your opinion if you do drive one. I'd be looking at a base manual one of course.

I think if we go to the dealer to check it out we'll drive both. I think he likes the looks of the Venue a little better than the Kona though.

Well, no. Compact crossovers are just hatchbacks and 5-doors always were my favorite body style.
I’d be driving it pretty often since he hates driving and makes me do it if we’re both in the car.

The only thing I would say is that Hyundai had some QC problems with their 2.4 and their 2.0T engines, causing high warranty claims and service bulletins .
https://www.apa.ca/readarticle.asp?id=1129
I know that this may be behind them, but perhaps you may want to do some research on whether the current 2.0L retains the same design.

I don’t mind it, I like that it’s more upright than most compact crossovers since they’re all trying to look “sporty” or some shit. It doesn’t look like it’s trying to be too tough either, other than the angry headlights. The roofline also doesn’t drop like crazy so you might even be able to see out the back, and put actual things in it.
That said I’d pro
bably buy a Bronco Sport if I was getting a crossover

My Optima was solidly reliable and comfortable, and safe as it turned out. Both of the Elantras he’s had were good cars, too. I mean, both of our parents bought Elantras after he got his. I’m definitely a fan, and if my next vehicle isn’t a 4x4 truck it will likely be a V8 Equus/Genesis G90 or V8 Kia K900.

Accent based the Venue has a shorter overall length.

He had a Juke before and loved it, but it was so small inside and the trunk felt smaller than the one in my Fiat 500 that I had back then. It was crazy.
I hadn't heard of the Bronco Sport so I looked it up, and it seems a little too much like a first-gen Escape.

One of the few Crossovers I actually like, and not just because I like Accents and it’s Accent-based.
The fact it has a manual option is a big thing for me...it sortof doesn’t remind of a crossover in many ways, it moreso reminds me of a ‘tall car’ like the Scion xB or Kia Soul. You can’t get the Kia Soul with a manual in Canada anymore :(
I also like that the design is sortof funky and the interior can be had with some vibrant splashes of interesting color! :)

Yes. I prefer Pepsi products to Coke products, but I’m very proud to be a native Georgian. Atlanta is the main hub everyone knows about, but there are so many parts of the state I want/need to discover. Even going to college in Milledgeville, 1.5 hours from Atlanta, opened my eyes to another side of the state.
There’s a reason Georgia is called the Empire State of the South. Large corporations and film productions call the state home because it is a nice place to work and live. Portions of suburban counties like Cobb, Gwinnett, and Fulton have some of the best services and schools in the nation. For a progressive take, the state is also incredibly diverse. Our weather is a nice balance as well. Less tornadoes than the central United States, less snow than the north, and less hurricanes than states like Florida. We have a small coast, but our main areas are usually not in harm’s way.
So yes, I’m glad to be from Georgia.

The Kia Soul seems to be a much more substantial car for not much more money. Larger inside, better interior materials, more power. At least in my area they’re listing for about the same as the Venue ($15-20k after discounts) - at that point it’s a no brainer.

Kona is 1.6t or 2.0non-t. The Venue is 1.6non-t. We really like our Kona. The handling and ride are excellent, it deosn’t have much more interior space than the Venue, but it’s a much more upmarket feeling and driving car. The Venue is inexpensive, and it’s good for what it is, but it’s a cheap car. The Kona just feels much more upscale, the 1.6t is the way to go with the Kona, the 2.0 is a bit lacklustre. The kona may not be much bigger than the V enue, but its heavier, and the 1.6t really changes the character of the car from “T his an af fordable AWD mini-crossover with a nice interior for the money and I guess it’s OK” to “hey, this thing is pretty fun! And the interior and AWD are nice too!”

The venue is really rinky dinky , no back seat room , no real storage room, get a Tucson front wheel drive , it’s a much better car with much more room and with the rebates or the 0% for 84 months it’s a much better bargain
